SYNOPSIS

Over the past 10 years, Austen has developed his career as an architectural designer with a passion for mass timber construction. His journey began at Michael Green Architecture, where he gained hands-on experience, working on concept design for Google’s Sunnyvale Campus and Toronto’s smart city pilot project with Sidewalk Labs, developing expertise in mass timber design and research. Sunnyvale was an impressive five-story office building and Google’s first ground-up mass timber development, setting new standards for biophilic and structural design. Austen contributed to early concept design and development work. Austen was also heavily involved in Sidewalk Labs, an urban innovation company founded by Alphabet Inc., aiming to improve city life through cutting-edge technology and design. Austen worked on designing and prototyping timber architecture concepts, contributing to innovative urban solutions and helping shape the future of smart city development.
